Raw Brownies

Craving for some dessert, something sweet but need a healthy option? Check out the gluten-free healthy vegan brownies. What can be a better option that takes just 10 minutes to make and is perfectly healthy!!

The Raw brownies can be prepared with just five ingredients which are raw walnuts, cocoa powder, dates, water and little salt. Optionally you can add some cacao nibs and vanilla but that is not needed. 


Not just one there are plenty of reasons to have the vegan raw brownies.

The literal meaning of Raw means the food that is not cooked or has not been heated above 47 degrees Celsius. The main reason some people prefer raw is that while cooking some of the essential nutrients are lost during heating. Therefore, these become the healthiest and tastiest options for desserts.  

The most important reason is that they are full of nutrition as the base of brownies is walnuts and dates. It is an awesome dose of nutrients, fiber, and healthy fats. 

What can be a better option to make as a dessert than a brownie loved by kids? Kids easily love to have these brownies as they have cacao powder. Moreover being healthy gives plenty of nutrients necessary for their growth. 

The raw brownies truly satisfy the sweet treats without a sugar crash. They are different than the traditional brownie filled with butter and sugar. 

It can last for a long time and can also be served in small portions. 


The preparation of these healthy vegan brownies does not take much time. Easy to make and heathy to eat, you can follow the below recipe:-

Preparation time – 20 minutes

Total Time – 30 minutes

Ingredients –

  • 1 ½ cup of pitted Medjool dates (which will be around 16 dates). It should be soaked for a minimum of 20 minutes. 
  • 1 cup of raw walnut pieces
  • ¼ C – ½ C Cocoa powder – It is recommended that you use more for a rich flavour and if the traditional cocoa powder is used then add less first but can be added if there is a need. 
  • A pinch of Salt 
  • 2 to 4 tablespoons of water 

Method – You will need to mix all the ingredients in the food processor. It is advised that you should start with less water to have a smooth dough. You can add water gradually if needed for the smooth batter. Taste the dough made and add more cocoa powder if you need the rich flavour. 

Once you are satisfied with the taste and batter, pour the batter into the baking dish which should be lined with parchment paper and top with additional walnut pieces. 

Let the brownie set in the fridge for about 30 minutes. Then you can cut into the pieces and serve them. 

It is optional to add in cacao nibs or top with shredded coconut and they are also great with goji berries mixed in. cacao nibs comprehend a much higher concentration of vitamins than their refined by-products do.
